Two things I have to correct...

1) Grulla is dun

2) any colour can grey out... black, brown, sorrel, dilutes, duns, bays, champagnes, any colour. Grey is a modifier that can cover any colour.

there is a difference ina gruella and a dun. A dun is a reddish (or redder) colour, while a gruello tends to look a little 'green' or toupe-ish. The gruellos dont have the striped 'zebra' legs a dun has and the back stripe doesn't have to be there.

second, if she were to be grey, i'd think she'd be a little bit darker, as greys get lighter as they mature. If she'd be a grey, she would end up nearly white (taken shes 4-8 months old) They can all grey out, but for most of those colours the greying comes at age 20+ (usually, )

my fight, explained.... challengers ?

Not true On any of it. This site explains the dun/grulla to you...

http://www.duncentralstation.com/AdultShades.html

Grulla is dun on a black based horse. Dun itself is more of an addition to a base colour, as is grey, btw. And yes, the dun factor MUST be there, the dorsal, the masking, shoulder barring, and leg stripes... there must be primitive markings.

Grey is a modifier gene, and if the horse has a grey parent, it has a chance of greying right away. Sorrels that grey out are called rose greys, for example. Horses that 'grey' after 20 (if you are implying due to age) are not tehnically greys. If a horse has the grey gene, it will be a grey, no matter the base colours.

Another thing... the filly has not been weaned yet so the chances that she is 4 months old or older is pretty slim.

I will bet there is no dun factor. Possibly buckskin going gray. Gray tends to weird out colors.

I really think she could actually be just chestnut going gray. Or maybe red dun? Palomino? I've seen pallys going gray that looked weirder than this.
