Ever since May I have been giving lessons to a girl (Abby) who is 9. She would come every other Weds night. So I would have to hurry through chores cause she would show up around 6:30. She is a natural. I saw this almost immediately.
Well the summer progressed and I told her that I could use her around the farm since she is so good with animals, in a half joking manner. (since I am so busy with Ebay pictures and stuff after work)
She said she would just love that. I would say this every time she came. Well...... We asked mom if she could come and help me as much as possible.
On Mondays, Tuesdays and Weds I pick her up after work. She cleans 3 stalls for me, feeds the cats, plays with the new colts, gets the halters on them and works with them, makes sure the sawdust and water is taken care of..... She is a DREAM!!!
She is my first official barn manager LOL. You can be 9 and do all this if your heart is in it. And she is so good at it. She rides every night ----bareback on Dreamer...... she prefers bareback. Thats her payment. I have such confidence in her she is so awesome around horses. She will go far in the horse world.
You tell her something ONE time and you never have to repeat it.
Oh and her dad grew up around horses, so did afew aunts..... she is a ministers daughter, home schooled and the most perfect child!

Taken acouple of weeks ago. She gives Foxy a work out and she is building muscle from it.
Like I said, I hope this story never ends and I know she hopes it continues too.
Cold weather would play that part, but we will see.

She sounds so much like my daughter! From the first time she got on a horse she had perfect balance. I would give anything to find a trainer (and the money) that would take her on, I know she'd go far as well. She rides bareback because she hates the saddle, says she can't feel her horse with the saddle in between them.

I bet the cold weather won't deter Abby, my daughter would ride in the rain if I let her. How awesome that you are able to give Abby this chance to ride and care for horses.

Have I told you lately that I LOVE YOU?... You are a good woman.. I can tell that it's NOT about her helping with chores...But helping hearts..As I read I am reading words from your heart..Not your fingers...

That's so great!! I wish i had had an opportunity like that when i was 9! I hope she sticks with it (sounds like she will!) and this "story" continues for both of yall!! cute pic too-btw!!

*I wish the 9 yr. olds at my barn were more like her too...most of ours our "helpless" to NO end....and honestly and sadly enough...they don't seem to care (but SOME of them are thankfully, more like this girl.)
