Angry I hate selling stuff online

Erg, back in July I traded one of my milking does (a nubian dairy goat) for an as of yet unborn buck kid, got a signed contract that states that if something happens with one of the goats that I would get my doe back or he would pay the asking price.

I've been trying to email him since the end of September (his doe was due in October) and after tracking down his fathers email addy (keep in mind the guy is about 24/25, I shouldn't have to track down his daddy just to get him to respond to an email) he finally emailed me back. He says a vet told him that my doe was cystic and could not be bred back, so he SOLD HER, yup, didn't email me, didn't send a letter, no phone call, nothing and on top of that he says that he wants either another doe or $50 for his (my) buckling Is he frea.king INSANE?!? So first you sell my doe before I receive payment for her and now you want another one?!?!

Then he has the balls to say that if I try to enforce the contract that I will be "screwing him and coming out smelling like roses"

The worst part is that I would have gladly taken her back, I've bred her successfully for the last three years (she was four) and never had any trouble getting her to settle, she always settled with the first heat.

I'm waiting for a response to my question about what vet he used, unless he brought in a specialist from somewhere their are no vets around here that a very knowledgeable with goats (I've spent a lot of time looking for one) and I want to know how they decided that she was cystic...I never never never had any problems with her, she was one of my healthiest, easiest keeping goats, could get fat on air and would drown you in milk.

I keep going from mad to shocked to confused to sad to think that such a nice animal ended up slaughtered (I have no problem with slaughter but sheesh, this doe was a granddaughter of my foundation doe, it took a lot for me to decide to sell her) and then I go back to being mad again.

He doesnt have a leg to stand on if the contract has been written properly.
I would politely inform him that in selling the doe he has breached the contract and he can either give you the original asking price of the doe or pay up with the little buckling.
Tell him you will be seeking legal counsel if necessary.

I would take him to court over this....
He didn't hold up to his end of hte contract,so it'd be fairly easy imo to win.

I did inform him that selling the doe breached the contract and made it VERY clear that I would be collecting for my doe, he responded saying that he supposed since he sold her it would be wrong to try and get more money (gee, ya think) and said the buckling will be ready in two weeks.

I was ready to take this to court if I had to, thankfully he has seen the light.

Thanks for letting me vent lol

Ps, he never did say what vet he used and through a little research I've found out that an inexperienced ultra sound tech can easily mistake a follicle for a cyst.

wow, even if that goat had a cyst....more then likely all she needed was a shot of cysterellen and yes im sure that is spelled really bad...i had a doe like that...two shots later and she was preggers and delivered triplets in 5 mos.

Yeah, I can see why he would want to cull her though since it can be genetic but I'm not convinced she even had cysts, supposedly it's not very common for a doe that has been bred consecutive years to get them like that and on top of that, while I had her she showed zero symptoms but I guess we'll never know

Oh, I wouldn't even play his games. Go down fill small claims and have him served after he is served call him up and be like " LOOK if you dont fallow the contract, and give me my buck or my $$ I will see you in court, or we can settle this right now and i'll drop the law suit, choice is yours!" and make sure when you tell him that you have a witness present.

Ok, seriously starting to think this guy has multiple personalities....
He wanted to know when I could come get the buckling and then informed me he moved, he now lives 3 1/2 hours away from me...needless to say that changes when I can get there (he did live about ten minutes from me) so I told him that because of work and holidays (and now I'm sick, oh the joys) I wouldn't be able to get there until Dec 5th, he shoots back a nasty email basically saying that he will hold the buck until the end of November and when will I be there to pick him up?

I replied again that I would not be able to get there until Dec 5th and told him what time he could expect me there, he replys with a very polite email saying ok see you then, email me closer to the date with the time you'll be here.

Umm...ok?

I am so not going alone......I think I'll bring a whole darn posse...
