I'm curious - what works for "those" horses? Do you realize that all good training methods are based on the same underlying principles, including NH?

Gosh what a long thread! I think some people are born with a natural confident instinct around horses this is what NH is prob trying to teach, these people are all ready using NH tecqniques without knowing it because they are confident! Horses pick up your body language so quickly wether your riding or handling them. When you read into NH it does make sense but if you are a confident horseman secure in your success the last thing you want is someone raming it down your throat. You dont tell your granny how to suck eggs!!

I got to do a couple or so trail rides with an 8th level (WHATEVER that is) Parelli instructor and their spouse and they travel throughout the country, and do clinics and have been featured on TV, blah, blah, blah. Well, they had two of the most AWFUL poor mannered, hard to control horses I've ever ridden with out in the foothills! It was SO bad "I" was embarrassed! After a couple of these trail rides I decided this was for the birds and NOT worth my time to have to tolerate being around such a circus. Of course the "trainer" had to keep telling me how GREAT they are the whole time...uh, okay??? Not to mention belittleing my horse(s) every chance they got. Mine were after all QUIET beyond all reproach, and rather bored. Guess this trainer must have felt threatened by me, since I wasn't SWOONING over their greatness, so had to try to force-feed me a bunch of pooey. It was just plain awful! You couldn't PAY me to ride those BIG TIME 8th level Parelli horses, let alone take lessons from such trainers. BLECK!!

Temposmom, what were those horses doing? Are they CERTIFIED PNH instructors? There are LOTS of people out there claiming to be X level, yet Pat would be hard pressed to know their names, which means they aren't at that high level they claim.

The horses were prancey, jiggy, head throwing, kickers, anxious and in MY opinion anything BUT well trained. FORGET about going out for a nice trot, that was SO not going to happen. I do KNOW the trainer IS what the claim is, BUT they do areana work and being out in the "real?" world must have been just too much for their muddled brains is all I can figure. LOL It was pretty appalling behaviour from the trainer as well as the horses. I won't share names publicly, for legal purpose-if you can understand. Put these guys in an arena and they work "wonders" but that is about it. I got such an ear FULL of NH it was enough to make me gag.

Were they *, or **, or *** (1, 2, or 3 star) instructors? 4, or 5?
