Absolutely sista! I have no need for a show, I just want the meat of the message and I'll go it alone. I have gone to a few clinics, Never bought the gadgets, did get a nice halter and lead. I have found a way to rent the video's and I add what works for me to my bucket of tricks. I'm not financing anyones empire!

LOL, totally missed this wonderful comment the first time. It always amazes me how people so willingly hand over wads of cash to totally "buy into" the newest shiny toy on the market before doing a couple of test drives and seeing just how "handy" that toy is. Some of those "toys" are pretty handy and just for convenience may be worth the cost, but to buy into it hook, line and sinker after going to one clinic or watching a short "promo" on the TV just amazes me at the intellectual level of the general horse owning public nowadays. Maybe the low purchase cost of horses in the last 10 or so years is reflected in the overall "mentality" of the "new horse owning public". Not to say all, but sure are a lot from where I'm sitting.

So, I was carrying a dressage whip, walked him into a fence, and asked for the backup again. He just set himself against it - so rather than pull harder on his mouth, I tapped him on the chest with my dressage whip. Still no response, so I gave him a pretty hearty smack to wake him up and to let him know he can't just not respond to a cue.

Note... he had three chances to do the right thing here. I've been practicing this with him quite a bit, and he now knows that walking into a fence and rolling back on my seatbones means to stop and backup. He's also clear on the back-up cue (rein pressure). The first tap was a light one. So - by the time I really got after him, it wasn't like I was harrassing him for no reason.
After that - he backed freely and lightly every time I asked him.
Just so it doesn't get lost in all the special highlighting, wanted to emphasize the important part in the OP. ^^ Seems like TP handled the training just fine. It's too lovely a day for trolling.

We just got 1" of rain last night and another 1" this morning just before church. Too many bugs got washed into the ponds for the fish to be biting or that would be a GREAT idea!! But my favorite is crappie!

Aveeno makes an AWESOME spray on spf 70 for under $10.

I thought trolls lived under bridges, were naked, ugly and had funky hair?

Not trolls silly, trolling Get with the program.

Wonder if you can troll for NH Trainers and snag one on the first wiggle of the line? Would that be a "carrot line"? OR a Carrot Sinker!

I guess there just are no answers to some mysteries in the horse world.

You can resume your regularly scheduled program now.

I think it is safe.

Oh HEY! That reminds me. Do you wanna hear the story about the one that as soon as I got it close enough to the boat to see what it was, I cut the line cause it was a NASTY red horse fish. All bones and no meat Though those are usually the ones we get when gigging at night. The conservation asks us to gig as many as we can and make sure they don't live to pollute and foul the good spawning grounds for productive fish.
