This thread is in danger of becoming serious again. How on earth did we let that happen??

jeesh.... someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. You are NOT forced to use it and it is JUST a method. You dont need to go ape on people just because thay were wondering if you would let them HELP your horse. Again.... it is just a method. take a chill pill, relax and just say no thank you.

Your stick may be an extension of your arm... but that itty bitty stick ain't bgonna do much when you have a 1400-1500 pound quarter horse coming at you at a dead gallop ears back and teeth barred. Or when you have a completely scared out of your mind mare galloping around a 40ft round pen, it ain't gonna stop them, believe me I have been in both of those situations. You can do the NH thing, but what also comes into play is body language, I am not kidding. I can get my mare to walk/trot/canter/stop just by MY body position.

All in how it is applied....

what are you suppose to use if a horse runs at you acting like it's going to kill you? honestly, I'd rather have a firm stick then a flimsy whip. everyone uses body language to speed, stop or change a horses direction.

It's simpler to move away from a charging horse than people think... Had a 2000 pound gelding come running at me chasing my mare around an arena. I didn't have no flimsy stick with me,,, I had a lead rope that got smacked upside the geldings skull. he quit chasin my mare after that.

That gelding was also owned by someone who was disabled... exremely trained... with nothing but....:O Parelli...

And when I said body language...I meant on the ground
