I can guarantee that if a NHer came in the roundpen with my 4 year old that i am just starting and tried being "one with the horse" they would get run completely out of the pen, she was the lead horse in a herd of about 13 or 14 horses, she would probably use more NH techniques on them than they would on her, she would have them turning and backing up in a matter of seconds, some of the techniques may be applied to her later in training but a firm, confident hand is all she will respond to at this time.

Heyyyy, I had that exact wine holder! Sent it to my Junkentime partner...ended up in a thousand pieces, now I wish I had hung on to it!

I was working my horse in the round pen when he charged at me. so, naturally, he got whacked on the nose. It's never happend since. Same with a mare we have that liked to kick. When she would kick, she would get whacked on the butt. Now she doesn't kick. I think that is a little more natural than standing in the middle of an arena and waiting for you horse to walk over to you. Maybe I just don't wisper right.
