I think "natural horsmanship" does include a good whack every now and then. Horses kick and bite in the wild naturally, not just to fight, but to let the other horses know who is in charge and to gain respect. I think a lot of people that are animal right activist think that any little swat is abuse, and that is what is pushing the term "natural horsmanship" towards meaning don't touch the horse or use any tack. Natural horsmanship has bred some pretty entertaining "trainers", though. Like Ryan Genrich and Judy Goodnight. I think the only reason they made on RFD-TV is so people could get a good laugh and learn what not to do. Any show that starts with a fresh horse with absolutely no sweat on it, and then instantly the horse is lathered up and about dead, makes you wonder what went on off camera. The good trainers will show every little bit, including the neccessary fights. Just my oppinion, whatever that is worth.

Booty shot???

I would just like to say "ppphhhhttttt", to whomever insinuated that horses who make their living on the trail are somehow a lesser animal than those who go round and round the show ring dirt, spit shined and squeaky clean.

I'll put my lowly little trail horse up against your high and mighty show horse any day of the week in a one on one, who has the better horse, battle.
