I fell =[

so today i rode a different horse..... i rode this 2 year old named gibson. he's ome a long way, no more kicking when asked to canter, rarely picks up the wrong lead onhe flat..... he's come a long way. well today we jumped cross country...... and at the very first jump, right after we landed he through his head down, and it caught me off gaurd so i lost my balance and fell..... i got up on my own but my head/neck was pounding after i got off, and my elbow is pretty banged up... but i got back on him and had to juast go back and forth over the little tiny *not even 18 inch* log... then i trotted him down to the next jump, and he kept spooking at this lil white dog..... the spinning around on his haunches *not not really rearing* and i kept loosing my balance at that.... but i finally got him over it....... and now my head is still pounding, my neck still hurts, my elbow still stings.... and now my knee randomly started hurting so i hope im not that sore tom but i prolly will be =[

So let me see if I read this right......

He is Two? As in 2 years old? And you are jumping him?

No wonder it was a "bumpy ride".

No reason to be jumping a two year old. Other than that, I'm sorry you fell, and I hope you don't hurt too much for very long.

He's only two and you're jumping him!?!? I don't think that jumping a horse that young is a very good idea but that is just my opinion!

But it is affecting him. His joints aren't fused yet, he's not finished growing. It can cause a lot of damage and lameness in the near future, and two is just too young for jumping.

it doesn't matter if he hasn't been lame yet! When a horse is two their growth plates are still hardening and coming together and when you jump them that young their growth plate WILL be affected! Not every vet is a good vet and maybe he/she doesn't know that you're jumping him....so if you want him to break down when he's 9 and then become severely arthritic, be my guest. but it's quite a shame that you're jumping him that young. that is just my two cents!!!!
