| Senior Member+ | Have you tried Laundry bluing? That used to be magical stuff for light colored horses & palomino manes. Used it on a flaxen chestnut mane once before a show and she looked Great! A friend used it on her dapple grey Arab's tail. I don't have these problems, I own a bay, LOL! Good luck.

![]() | From the "Horse Journal", Wash the tail with human shampoo to remove dirt, rinse thouroughly. Pour white vinegar right from the bottle onto the tail below the dock where all the staining is evident. Saturate the yellow hair and let the vinegar sit in the tail for 10 minutes. Use a fly mask on the horse face so no vinegar will get in the eye if they swish the tail. Wash the vinegar completely out of the tail. Apply QuicSilver shampoo full strength to the entire tail and work in well. Leave in 10 minutes and then rinse. If still stained, put a capful of liquid bluing in a half-cup of gentle human shampoo and work that into the tail. Leave this on for no more than 5 minutes. Rinse the tail with cold water. Apply conditioner for 5 minutes and rinse. For maintenance us Quic Silver once a week. |

I use it on Pic, but only on the very end of his tail, like you said the bit that gets yellow. Try using a washing bar soap - Like F a i r y- the green bar that you would rub shirt collers with, this works great as well. [ March 21, 2004, 05:49 AM: Message edited by: CANDYGIRL ] |
