I an going to wean tommorrow :(

I am going to wean Ace from Sugar tomorrow. He is 5 1/2 months now. Sugar is really starting to lose alot of weight. She has done well with keeping her foals on her for longer before but I have not bred her back on her foal heat either. I think with her in foal and nursing it is taking a HUGE toll on her. I want to post a pic so you can all see how thin she has gottin. It is amazing how fast she has lost the weight.
Any how, Ace is going to a friends house to be with another weanling. She was wean last month. He will have someone to play with for a month or so.

Pic coming soon.

Awwww, I hate weaning my babies. I only wean when I have to, if I have to sell the foal or show my mare or if the baby is taking a toll on my mare like yours is. I hate seeing the babies sooo sad its such a hard time! Good luck! Be stong!

Thank you! I have seperated them. I am going to take him off the property tomorrow ao they stop yelling at each other. I think it's going to be a loud evening. Sugars milk is really dripping, but looks ggod.

Cyn - I'll be weaning Mystic next month when she is around 5 1/2 months too. We plan to take McKenna to a friend for about a month.

Hope everything goes well for you.

weaning is hard to do, but it needs to be done. my friend has a yearling that still isn't weaned and is nursing on mom.
