I am so stupid, but I have to Ask LOL (BLOND)

We pick out our horses feet everyvay in order to keep them from getting thrush ect, but wild horses feet are never picked out, so why don't they get thrush.

I am so stupid LOL, I thought about that question every time I saw my horse LOL

Wild horses aren't contained like ours are, so they don't stand in their own poop and stuff. They can just walk away from it and go stand on some nice dry grass, lol.

Well it's really their lifestyle, they dont have people tending to them everyday, so they are used to the conditions. They aren't like the horses that everyone keeps at a barn or anything so I guess they are used to the conditions..

they dont have long feet because they always are moving- the frog isnt compromised by poor circulation like domestic horses. They dont eat in a contained area so they dont get loaded from worms- they also have a certain amount of immunity built up from strong lineage. The ones that have poor feet- poor immune system- poor anything are dead already. Climbing up and down mountains- in and out of streams- over rocks cleans them - also according to the Nat. Hoof concept - the dirt that is in the foot is actually part of the process to keep the foot strong and protected. They travel so much and eat new grazing areas that are not contaminated with worms- manure etc. They also do not live as long as domestic horses - which is why they live without having dental care. Alot of mustangs will founder in captivity because they are over fed. They were meant to live on less like the island ponies . Grazing different plants to some extent will remove some of the worms too. Not to say some do not die of the problems- im sure they do- but you know there are some domestic horses that are starved for years and survive - and others don't . Some are just tougher than others. Unfortunatly mankind is the biggest threat to the wild horses now. AS usual its open season on the one last thing that was pure and strong. they passed a law allowing wild horses to be sent to slaughter. It's the beginning of the end for the one horse breed that has no manmade flaws.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The differences in my mustang & my domesticated horse are amazing. Dex (my mustang) eats things out in the pasture that Joe won't touch such as briars & leaves out of trees. Dex does a great giraffe impression, LOL!
