There's a 4 year old gelding saved by a rescue in our barn. He was saved by a rescue from the "kill" pen at a local auction. He's having full blown attacks (HYPP). He should have never been born! The attacks sometimes are severe. He's on medication and special diet. One day one of theses attacks is going to cause his heart to fail. I know the present owner feels she doing the best for him.

When I say he should have never been born, the test doesn't cost that much. Why save a few bucks and breed horses that are going to continue a genetic disease?

I totally agree; it's not right. Every chance of HYPP can and should be prevented.
