That was my now ex-farrier...lol

The Defcon horse is doing fast work now and is on target to race around August. Here's an update from before..

Yeah, I can see why he'd be your ex farrier. LOL Thanks for the update. He looks like he's a pretty happy camper now. I don't know how ya'll do things over there but has he been galloped in company yet? I'll be anxious to hear how he stands up to the pressure of other horses. I'm currently raising an orphan colt so I'm struggling to try to head off some of the emotional and behavioral issues that they always seems to have.

I guess that I'm going to have to go to youtube to find out the story behind the pink pants.

Man, you guys sure changed your tune once he joined in.

I have always enjoyed his videos (your videos) jeesh now I don't know who to address.

What kind of speed does Defcon have and was that him in the water video?

I always wonder if that Hollar back one was real. Like did the horse actually sort of take off and did the camera actually fall, because the cussing at the end seemed added in lol :P :P Still love it tho.

My very first post back in 2005 was about riding an un-started horse in it's own paddock. That was no lie.

Here on the internet you have to have video proof before people will believe you and sometimes even that isn't enough.

The Defcon horse is have his markings checked this week so he isn't far from going to the racetrack.(they don't have a branding or tattoo system here, they check swirls and markings)

He's doing fast work on Tuesdays and Saturday and just walking and trotting the other days. Once the fast work starts I back off on the slow work because it's too much to ask them to do both at this age.

You can do twice the normal distance going slow but it still won't get them as half as fit as some nice fast work. Slow work doesn't trim them up.

His fast work is going uphill twice doing about 15sec a furlong which means he's only doing 15's for about 600m each time because the track is only 1000m long and you need to allow room to speed-up and speed-down as there is a solid wall at the end of the track. You must stop after each run or you'll end up "Hollaback Girl"...lol

I don't want his fitness to peak here so I only get him about 70% fit and let the trainer do the rest.

Edit to add: The hollaback vid was for fun like most of mine..The camera was dropped to make it look like I hit the wall...
