Nope, training her for free as a favor. I'm riding all her horses for her.

There are HUNDREDS of basic training things she can be kept plenty busy with. She is not collecting - she doesn't have the balance or strength to. She is rushing at the trot, rushing at the canter. She doesn't steer well. It may all well be light pressure that is causing her to turn her nose, but most of the time her body is not following in a line with her nose. That is the danger of doing all that lateral flexion work without truly understanding what you are doing.

She is a saint of a pony, I'll give her that. But you are setting her up for progressive frustration. You will think she understands something and get frustrated with her for not "getting it", but it's all on you.

Please slow down with her, teach her the basics. It's SO much easier to do things right from the start than it is to go back and find and fix holes that you are currently creating.

You're totally right...

The burnout is already bubbling right under the surface... watch her flip her head around when she takes up "contact" at the trot to steer, and hunch her back. I bet that girl could really turf a gal!

I'm riding 3 of her horses at this time which are the horses that need the most work with. And yes I have one horse that I'm currently boarding at her facility.

I've never gotten frustrated with her. I keep my cool with horses. GOtta be patient when your working with them.

She's bobbed/tossed her head from the beginning. She's playing with the little tassle under the halter. I've seen her while she's tied up she'll bob her head to play with it.

You know what...

All other factors aside... this thread is NOT a good form of publicity for this mare. I bet her owner wouldn't appreciate this discussion going on about her sale horse.

The videos aren't, either. I personally would want to know what my employees were posting on the web, and I don't think I'd like having someone else put these videos up as an advertising video for my horse.

And she totally is, poor gal... there were times in those videos where I fully expected her to blow up and put her rider on the ground or off on a fence. I've seen that little frustrated head flip before and it's almost always accompanied by some not-so-polite commentary from the horse.
