hunters and such...

Well, i've really thought about it, and with my next horse i get, i want a warmblood or a horse bred for jumping, but anyways...(hunter undersaddle)

What are the levels?

Proper apparel?

What kinds of "hunters" are there?

Biggest shows?

thanks

I can help you with atleast one of your questions ^.^

Proper apparel?

Tan, Khaki or Grey breeches, I've had a trainer in the past that always had me in a Blue coat, but green, brown, and grey are okay too, with white, pinstriped, or pastel colored shirt. To me it is best to stick to the classic blue coat, and white shirt because it never really goes out of style, always looks nice, and is usually easier to come by. ^.^ And of course black field boots, black or blue gloves, black helmet, and a simple black or brown leather belt.

What are the levels?
Beginners- usually 1'9" but varies
Short Stirrup/Long Stirrup- usually 2' but varies
Limit- usually 2'3"-2'6"
Childrens/Adults- " "
Pre-Green Hunter
Working Hunter
there are many more. When you get the show prize list you will see the many levels/qualifications.

Proper apparel?
Hunt coat (usually navy or black), blouse(keep it conservative), field boots, black gloves, approved show helmet, tan riding breeches, hair pulled up under helmet.

What kinds of "hunters" are there?
what????

Biggest shows?
A shows I suppose. There are schooling shows which arent a big deal, then C shows which are just little things, B shows which are like practice for A shows, and A shows which are the real deal.

usually blue or green coats, pastel, white, and pinstriped shirts, beige and khaki pants, black gloves, black helmet, black tall boots(depending on age 11 and under can wear short boots) and black belt, hair net or bow,

many levels from short stirrup to adult working hunters

hunter over fences and hunter undersaddle
"AA" are the biggest and most serious of them all
"A" little more laid back but are still fun
then B and C which are more breed and schooling level shows

I'd recommend going to some local H/J shows in your area - hopefully there are some big rated shows near you. There you can get an idea of 'how it's done" in regards to fashion and judging.

You can also learn a lot about the local trainers in your area, just by watching how they interact with their students and others.

I found some links for you - this should help!
