Question Hunter... Hunter/Jumper...Moronic Question.

I thought Hunter was kind of like English Pleasure but then what is Hunter/Jumper and the difference between that and Regular Hunter and Hunter/Jumper between Show Jumping?

I am definitely not an expert on such things...I'm not sure what the difference between hunter pleasure and English pleasure is (maybe none?!). I know there is more of a difference between show jumping and hunter-jumper, but you can kind of tell the difference, because showing jumping has big fancy jumps, whereas hunter-jumper just has plainer standards and rails. And, a hunter-jumper horse will have his knees up around his nose--well, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but his knees are often higher, and his nose is lower.

So, can somebody please describe the difference better than what I did?!

There is hunter like english pleasure, I think (for saddlebreds and such? I'm clueless about this kind!), but its completley different from the 'hunter/jumper' type of hunter. Show jumping basically is jumper. You get timed as you go around your course and it doesn't matter so much how you get over the jumps. Hunter is not timed, but you have to make the course look easy and your horse look easy, and make it all look very neat and tidy. And like Goonhorse mentioned the jumps are different for hunter and jumper... hunter has more 'natural' type jumps. Eh hope that was what you where looking for somewhat! lol
