hunt jacket???

I have a jacket that I bought a long time ago. Not sure WHY I bought, but it was really inexpensive.
Anyways... I was wondering if this jacket would be ok for a hunter show??

Its like a light tan/brown color. With leather elbow patches and some leather on the back of the neck area.

Sort of like this one... just light tan/brown
HUNT VALLEY Jacket,Leather elbow Patches, Wool,USA 42R - (eBay item 110164336489 end time Sep-04-07 18:00:00 PDT)

If this one is ok to use, let me know. Id rather use this than buy a new one.
thank you thank you;

to tell u the truth .. ive never seen anyone show in hunters with this type of jacket.

it looks like a very traditional "hunt coat". not the typical hunter jacket you see in the show ring.

but i could be wrong. just from my experience around me, i havent seen one. and if you are planing of showing in hunters often, i would buy a new one. much of hunters is judged on appearance.

No that wouldn't work in the hunter ring. It looks like it might be a traditional hunt coat not a show coat.

Try to find one at the consignment store. Go with navy, hunter green, gray, brown or some such subtle shade. Avoid black (it's considered formal and only appropriate for certain things) and if it has a pattern make sure it is very subtle.

Just no black coats. Black boots, black gloves and black helmet still apply.

You can get away with black just fine at smaller shows. Its when you start doing bigger, rated shows, that they become super picky.

Now, I have a black horse as well and I show in the hunters (and equitation) but I have a coat thats contrasting to his color. Black/black makes you blend in a little bit, you want to stand out, but not too much. I wear a light blue jacket with suddle pink pinstripes or a blue windowpane with light blue thread.

Well I guess you can "get" away with black at a very small show. But since you are planning on showing more in the future I would get a coat that you could use at both small and big shows. I know it sucks that hunters are so picky but it's just something you have to put up with I guess. It's also why I did way more jumpers (fashion is much more lax there ).

Your horse is black right? Usually blues or grays look great with a dark colored horse. Actually most colors work with a black horse so just pick one that you like.
