I did not say no black b/c it is not "instyle" just that I've always been told that black is formal. But as I've said before that's just me and what I've learned over the years

A black jacket is only formal when paired with white breeches,(outside of Dressage) not on it's own. You may not see them as much, but that does not mean they are not proper. Showing has changed the face of attire, just look at "field boots"They are not proper in the "field" at all, once cubbing, which allows ratcatcher are done."Fieldboots" were made for the showring, period.

Equestrian sports are seeped in age old traditions. Just because it is not the latest thing, or trend, does not make it unproper. Traditions are the very roots of a sport, and lend it a lot of the charm and grace that clings to them to this very day. May I suggest a bit of reading and research, before anyone speaks out.Hunt seat - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia As said article states,it is legal.

It is more important for you and your mount to be groomed to prefection.
Be bussiness like about your job in the ring, and out of it, be sportsman like and gracious, when winning, and losing, than it is to have the very latest trend in fashion, next year it will just be something else anyway.

Talent and devotion, not trends, make a horseman.

Thank you. I very much agree. Im just not a trendy sort of person, lol. I like my stuff when its well fitted and comfortable, not because theres a big brand name on it and it cost me in the triple digits
So I found a Jacket at the consignment store. Very nice looking, Navy, for $30. I think thats what ill go with.

Im a thick-headed person lol.
I was actually speaking in general about the topic, not specifically towards you. Navy is traditional in the hunter ring, but a black coat would be fine. I'm talking about someone walking into a schooling show doing walk, trot & wearing a shadbelly. That gives people something to talk about.

Definately not aimed at you, just in general on the topic of fashion having a role in hunters.
