Just for the record Paula... I did NOT buy the skunk helmet... mine is solid black! The only reason I did buy another helmet is because I have cut all the straps off my hunt caps... and a little bit for fashion... LOL!

Andi, your point is very valid, and this trend stuff from Kippy,

I for one, am glad of it.
Paula
Just to let you know, bling is wayyy more popular in the Jumper ring than you will find in the hunter ring (at big shows, cant really speak for the local/lower rated shows). And I have that helmet, but black/black and I adore it. Not only is it possibly the most comfortable helmet I've ever worn, it is definately the fashion of the hunter/jumper world right now.

We are talking Hunters, and I am very aware of what helmets
and other trends are in for the season

The CO Wellington Pro seemed to be the "IT" helmt for this year at Devon
and most of the major shows around here, on the East coast.
Got to stay ahead of the trend if you want to give fashion adivce.

The skunk has been around, and has a rep for being comfy.

I really have to wonder if Fashion means ANYTHING at all to the JUDGES. I really think that fashion is all in the eyes and minds of the competitors THINKING that the coat or helmet they wear actually effects how their HORSE scores in the hunter ring.
I'm gonna go look in some hunter rule books and see if it has rules on what to wear........oh wait, pretty sure they don't...which means, it can't effect your score.

AKA: wear what YOU think looks good on you and your horse. Also purchase what YOU can afford, not what you THINK you NEED to afford. Have fun! Thats what showing is all about!

I have the gr8, I tried this one on and I personally liked the GR8 better. But they are both the most comfy helmets ever. But thats the thing with Charles Owens, my hampton is amazingly comfy as well as my GR8

I agree about comfort, I school, and hunt in the J3 and love it
Sooo, wear what YOU like, what keeps you safe.
Not a slave to the latest trend or fashion.

I wear that helmet...LOL... I learned very young that fashion does mean something in the hunter ring... I had a lovely small pony, and tall boots... judge at one show told my trainer I would have pinned higher, if I was wearing jodphers and paddock boots....
