You have clarifying shampoos that strip everything off the hair, that is why its called clarifying. I dont recomend those unless you have alot of build up from conditioners, show applications and etc. Suave is pretty benign and is used straight up just like on humans. In a pinch I have used Suave. I tend to stick to shampoos that are very gentle like baby shampoo. I dont used polishes and other polishing coat applications. It's good diet, elbow grease and non stripping of the hair coat from applications that are rather potent. Orvus is one of things that is used for a large variety of cleaning. (wash your horse, wash your mule, wash your dog, wash your hog, wash your car, your trailor, your bar, wash your floor, cow and goat and what ever else floats your boat.) Yes you will want to use diluted. It takes very little Orvus to make a 5 gallon bucket of wash. I can usualy wash 3 medium sized horses with one 5 gal. bucket of wash from Orvus shampoo. Orvus lasts forever. The ph is nuetural. If one reads on the bottle of horse shampoo many can be diluted or used straight up. I have used Mane and tail for a long while and have used it as a wash or straight up and have used it on my head along with the conditioner. For deep conditioning for my hair I will liberaly apply Mane and tail cond. and wrap my head up in serane wrap and let stand for 15 to 20 minutes. THe ph must be close to nuetral than not because you can use it on multispecies. Some horses also do have allergic reactions to horse shampoos it can happen either way. I used to use Tea Tree shampoo designed for horses on my head from time to time with a conditioner after I wash. Specialty shampoos like your bluing shampoos I would recomend using those for the intended animal like the horse. Other special shampoos should only be used on horses and what ever other listed on animals.

I used to use baby shampoos on my horses, but have recently been getting horse shampoo because I find it to last a lot longer. Both worked just as well, though, and I've never had a horse suffer from using human shampoo.
