Not saying we should all drink breast milk, but still, how is a cows milk better than humans?
Its obvious to me PETA is just trying to get attention, I highly doubt they are serious about that.
Milk isent good for anything thats not a infant anyway, PETA is right about that.

Come again? What is unhealthy about milk? It is one of the richest sources of calcium easily available to people like me. I don't know about you, but with 20% of older women estimated to have osteoporosis, and 50% to have low bone mass, I'd rather be doing all I can to keep my body healthy. Milk may not be the ONLY way to get calcium, but it certainly isn't unhealthy for a human with a normal digestive tract.

Well, first of all its a unnatural food source, its not natural for a animal to produce milk for a human hoping to drink it. Its not natural for anything thats a adult to drink milk. There is a reason that puppies and kittens are weaned and dont live off the milk for life. Humans continue drinking milk thorough their lives. Actually, let me say AMERICAN humans especially continue drinking it.
Second, the only companies that are vouching for milk are the is the milk companies itself. America is not known to be one of the healthiest countries...
I dont call it unhealthy, but I wouldn't call it healthy either. There are lots of people out there who say milk is the best thing for you blah blah who have been watching too many "got milk" commercials. I would say Milk was much healthier 50 years ago then it is now.
Hormones and antibiotics are pumped into those cows so they can produce the amount of milk that they do.These hormones and anti-biotics are excreted in the milk. The hormones make young girls menstruate sooner, there are studies that say these hormones are a factor in breast cancer. The anti-biotics in the milk make people build a immunity to anti-biotics given to help cure illness, it makes us need more stronger anti-biotics and it makes us less resilient to illness. Not good.

That and I simple do not agree with commercial diary farming methods. Those cows constantly get infections around the UDDERS where the milk comes from. And they still milk them even infected. Milk is allowed by USDA standards to have a certain about of white blood cells or pus in the milk.
Its just sad they they use use cows are baby making machines and take away their young within hours or birth. Many of the calves go to veal, another practice which I abhor.
Its JMHO that milk is very overrated and that people drink way too much of the stuff. I don't think its a death wish, but milk doesn't have the same place as it used too. People don't do hard labor as their job anymore and the cows weren't treated like dirt either. Back in the day where it was a struggle to keep weight on I can see where milk could be beneficial. But we live in a world where 60% of Americans are obese, the last thing we need to do is chug milk. Just like how the food pyramid calls for a the amount of carbs it does, again, that was back when people can home sunburnt from working the fields all day. Milk does not have same place it has had throughout history.
I know lots of people will disagree with this, because many are stuck on old ways, but thats just my opinion. I personally don't care whether you decide to drink milk, but I think there are some facts to support that people should know about, that milk isent nutritional gold.

Good for you.
There are many who don't believe that though, and I don't believe living things should be at the mercy of who other beings who think they are more important then them.

Good thing there are places in this Country where you can get milk from cows that are not given antis and hormones .

Americans? do you mean Native Americans??

You can choose where you get your milk, and visit dairys to see how it is produced. The HUGE dairy farms are not farms at all, they are companies that buy milk from many small LOCAL farms..

Maybe you need to do a bit more research, before you go painting the industery with such a broad brush.

I am hardly stuck in the old ways, and hold a degree in animal science from an Ivy Leauge College,I am perfectly capable of thinking for myself . You however have some very out dated ideas about dairy farming. When was the last time you visited one?

Shop at Whole Foods, or Trader Joes, read the milk lables.
