For what?

He's eligible for full ApHC registration with the Acceptable cross of an arab. But he's a grey so he will not keep his spots.

His appaloosa lines are old foundation lines but performance type.

His Arab lines are really good on the sire side. I don't know much about the damline though.

I didn't see Arab on the sire side - predominately Quarter there.

how did you get his pedigree? and what is he registered with?

technically he could be eligible for both ApHC and Half arab registries if proper paperwork had been filed. But how do you know for sure that's his pedigree?

I split the lines right down the middle the Arab side is the Dam side and her sire side is very good for arabs. I wasn't refering to arabs on the sire side of the appaloosa lines.

IF he shows characteristics - visialble pattern, sclera, mottled skin and striped hooves, and is a gelding, he can be registered under the "hardship clause".

yea but if he's a grey, he may have already lost his pattern. or never had one either.

Understand now what you meant about the sire line - just didn't read that way (to me) without explaination.

Of course, the visiable pattern is a must for hardship as I wrote.

There is a possibility that this horse is already registered with ApHC as there is/was a 'Luck of the Irish' listed in the 'used name' list so it might be a case of getting him transferred, not registered.

maggie+molly - Your best bet would be to call ApHC (1-208-882-5578), Welcome to the Official Web site of the Appaloosa Horse Club and talk to them directly. They are very helpful. As you are in Canada you might also want to check with ApHCC (1-403-625-3326), Appaloosa Horse Club of Canada. If you are 'into' sport horses then you might want to check with ApSHA (1-334-750-4052), Appaloosa Sport Horse Association- ApSHA Main Page .
