Question How to Keep Tail Untaingled?

So after years of having dreadlocked hair Misty inally has a nice tail (after 2 hours of detangling ) I NEVER want it to go back to the way it was.

How should I keep it beautiful?

She is turned out 24/7 and i am putting on Mane'n Tail detangler every week.

You can braid it, or put it in a tail bag.

I like to braid about 3/4 of the tail, leaving out the shorter hairs, the wrapping/sheeting the braid and wrapping that in vet wrap. It keeps it up and nice plus gives something to swat fly's with. For the feather's you leave out you can spray them w/ pam to keep them from getting to tangled.

I just wash and condition my horses tail once or twice every two weeks. Depending on my show schedule. I also apply mane n tail conditioner to the tail dry almost every time I groom to keep it soft and silky. I find his tail grows better if I don't keep it untangled.

WD 40 is really bad, it is oil, it keeps water out, moister in general, as well as draw whats in out. Thats a bad idea

Cowboy Magic is great stuff! Highly recommend it. A little goes a long way.

The Best one I've Tried

Vetrolin Detangler. I love this stuff. I have a gelding with a long, long tail and I use the conditioner and shampoo. I was turned on to this stuff by a girl whose horse got into trouble with her tail.

I agree that you can bag it, braid it etc...but I think horses need their tails this time of year for the flies more than anything.

Just try this stuff. I was skeptical but it is awesome....his tail is rarely tangled and he is out all day. (p.s. He is groomed daily)

No!

Sorry but I forgot to add that I agree that WD 40 should NOT be put anywhere on a horses body. I am sorry but it shouldn't
