how to copy a dvd?

I brought home a dvd from a family member of a birthday party. I want to copy it to send to another family member. I have Windows XP pro, and I believe I can copy it, but I have been trying, and nothing happens- how do I do this? Sorry, simple terms, please

LOL, I'm far from a computer pro, but I think you need a specific program that allows you to do that............I could very possibly be wrong though.

Wouldn't exactly post something like this on a public forum. That's major copyright infringement there.

No, Copyright would be to take it and sell it.

You can buy DVD copy programs so you can "back up" your DVD's to your own media, take the movie to Ipod, etc. As long as it is for YOUR use.....and not giving it to anyone else if it is something you need to purchase.

Now, me posting the PATCH to a program that you have to BUY....and I give someoen the "CRACK"....instead of them paying....that would be pirating and not buying the rights....

Her sending me a umm...video...of what she copied that was copywrited...would be copywrite infringement.

But taking a DVD of a movie that her family made to her computer, or even the LOTR DVD set to my hard drive, is not copywrite infringement. Me sending YOU a copy of that file...is.
