How To Adopt A Pmu Horse?

Ok after reading that long thread on PMU horses and foals I was wondering how to adopt one. Who do I call or email or talk to? I want to adopt a mare, you know take care of her and let her have a happy life after having many babies and stuff. I wish I could do more, but adopting one is about all I can do for now. And does anyone know how much it costs?

thanks!

Ya its sad. I think I am going to adopt one. I want to adopt a mare not a foal and one that is not pregnant! The website I have gone on too find one all the mares are pregnant! I want to give a older mare that has had a hard life, a good retirement, pasture of green grass, lots of treats, lots of freedom and love!

Here are some links I found kind of interesting about adopting PMU horses! I am excited to get one now! But I dont think it will be till summer!

PMU barns are not cruel. I worked in one for 4 years and my aunt and uncle own one. You can just buy the mares and foals from the owners. Many of them are good, high bred registered horses. Dodger is from my aunt and uncle's barn.

That is great!! Someday when my husband realizes his long-lost love for horses, I am going to adopt a foal for him. He really likes bigger horses, and I think that a draft cross would be perfect for him. Good luck in finding the perfect horse!!

Drafty1 good point! That is a great website, and it shows the truth about PMU barns and the rules and regulations in effect as well.
