Question How patient would you be for a good deal?

I am emailing back and forth with someone I found online through craigslist.

She is selling a lot deal with a wintec isabell dressage saddle, wintec girth, the whole gullet set, wintec leathers, irons and a saddle pad for an incredible price.

I initially emailed her on the 8th of June and have mailed back and forth with her several times since then. She had to go get the saddle out of consignment to get photos and some other things.

I still have not seen photos of the saddle.

She also did not have paypal but said that she would set up an account so that I could use that to pay her through.

I still have not received her paypal info.

The last email I got from her was on the 19th. She said she'd get her pictures and paypal to me over that weekend. Still nothing back from her.

Should I continue to bug her? I mean...600$ would be a great price for all that. The other thing is that I have 400$ in my paypal account now and she agreed to hold the saddle for me until I can get the rest of the $.

She seems genuine and just busy...not scam-ish.

It does sound like a very good deal. If she seems genuine and not like she is trying to get the money as soon as possible (so she can skip out or whatever) I do not see the harm of being patient.

She might just be a busy, somewhat forgetful person. I know I can be. If I have a ton going on, I will forget to email or make a phone call or something similar pretty often.

I would say email her a reminder this evening saying you are not in a huge rush, but just wondering if she managed to get pictures of the saddle for you.

I think that she probably is just genuinely really busy, but politely mention that you would like to go through with the sale sometime soon.

For that deal, I'd probably wait a few more days. Then email her and ask 'what's up'. Make sure she hasn't backed out on the deal.

It might be that she hasn't gotten a chance to get photos yet and doesn't want to respond back until she does.

Since you don't have the money together yet anyway, I wouldn't sweat it too much for now.

It's show season so she might be traveling.

She could ship it immediately by US Mail COD, if you'd pay the COD fee. That way, you don't have money changing hands unless you get a saddle. I'm not sure how you'd handle a "not as described," but I'd say that would be unlikely b/c you'll have pics beforehand, and you can hold mail fraud over the seller. I've bought a few saddles that way up to $900 and have never had a problem.

If she sets up a PayPal, she'd probably have to tie it to a bank account to get the money out as fast as possible. She may not want to do that. or she may not have had time to check the bank to see what little amounts PayPal transferred as the test to complete bank setup.

I'd never leave money in PayPal. Take it out as soon as you get it. Read all the ebay discussion boards and complaints about PayPal and chargebacks and holding money for 21 days. People speculate that PayPal is insolvent and that's why they're rapidly changing policies all the time now plus taking longer to pay money out. As a seller, I don't like their policy changes so I'm not taking PayPal at present time.
