    Most people are not aware of the dangers of animal vaccinations that have been discovered in the last 5 yrs.

    The major Veterinary associations now agree that vaccinations can trigger all sorts of maladies from allergies to cancer.
    Her is a partial list of ingredients in vaccines
    Formaldehyde..... is not safe at any level
    Mercury...... is not safe at any level
    Antifreeze
    Aluminium
    Z-Phenoxyethanol
    Phenol
    Borax ect.

    Annual re vaccination is unnecessary, once an animal has developed immunity to a disease, giving boosters does not produce any increase in immunity. Antibodies from the first vaccine quickly destroys the virus componets in any following vaccines.

    Using vaccine titers testing will result in the animal avoiding needless and unwise booster vaccinations
    Why inject your animals with poisons year after year if you don`t need to.

    I only vaccinate my dogs with there puppy shots, and even then only as single antigens. After that, no vaccines.
    I vaccinate my horses every 3 yrs for rabies.

    Your animal looks at you with love and trust in his eyes, not at a stranger in a white coat. It is vitally important that you do as much as you can to understand the facts.

    and i would never vaccinate my dog yearly for rabies if it only needed it every 3 years. That is poison being injected into your dog, why do it more often than is absolutely needed.
    Do your research

    Are you a liscensed DVM? Or even a qualified Vet Tech?

    I'm not saying you're not right... But I'm trusting my vet and the thousands of other vets out there, and animal owners that believe in vaccinating every year..

    I also worm my horses every 2 months.. Some people would disagree with that...

    As far as dogs go, for TN it's the law to vaccinate every year, so that's that.

    Vets are educated in colleges that rely upon vaccine and pharmaceutical companies for funding. Colleges are reliant upon big business for funding and few people are willing to bite the hand that feeds it.

    Seriously; Fight it.... Taking care of your dog is your responsibility, nobody elses.
    Do your research.... then decide whether you will remain a law-obeying citizen and destroy your dogs health on demand, just because it`s the law.

    Never for one and it was yearly for the other but we skipped this year.

    One is allergic to the rabies vaccine. He broke out in hives, developed a high fever and seriously couldn't move (turn his neck, bend, legs were stiff) for over a week. He reacted badly years ago so he never got the shot again until a new vet came in to give shots and didn't look at the chart. These were all the symptoms of the most recent shot.

    Absolutely 100% right.

    Everyone should be running titers on their dogs when it comes to vaccines. It is a simple blood test. Many times, they still have the antibodies, and do not need to be vaccinated as often.

    Hey guys - thanks for all of the information.

    Ryle (or anyone else that knows) can you explain why animals need to be vaccinated yearly, but people only really get vaccinations as children and then only an occasional vaccination if they are going to another country or maybe a flu shot?

    I really don't understand why vaccinations for animals have such a short "lifespan" compared to humans. I have been trying to find information about this, but it is hard to find.

    And, just so it doesn't start a long, unnecessary discussion - my horses are current on their vaccinations. I am just looking for more information about some questions that I haven't been able to find answers for.

    Horse_Girl, I know your post was for Becky.

    As someone who believes similarly, I can say I am not a DVM or Vet Tech. However, I know what happened to my own animal as a result of too many vaccinations, at one time.

    Before her second round of puppy shots(september 7th):

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18_WS0TalCE"]YouTube- Angel learning to sit[/ame]

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUXGRumR5dE"]YouTube- 8 week old collie pup playing[/ame]

    A week and a half later(september 16th). The result of her vaccinations(confirmed by neurologist as Vaccine Induced Polyneuropathy). What I found interesting after this, is the fact they gave her the same dosing as they would have given a large breed dog. Why?

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZRhpHPzIZw"]YouTube- Angel sick 2[/ame]

    After the above problem, I will no longer give combo shots to any of my dogs. They will never receive more then one vaccine at any given time, and I will always opt for a Titer test before re-vaccinating them.

    I am not against vaccinations, however, I don't believe we need to give them as often as many vets push for.

    With the horses, they get their yearly shots (spring, winter etc.). My vet does not recommend the Rabies vaccines, so I do not do that.

    I am curious to see if any type of Titer testing is available for horses as well. I follow along right now, but in the end, I don't want to be giving them 'too much of a good thing'.

    references please? And not just from scare-tactic groups

    According to whom?

    Funny, my horses stand there sniffing my pockets while they get vaccinated.

    Why inject your animals with poisons year after year if you don`t need to.
    Ah, the old "it's POISON!" tactic

    [qute]I only vaccinate my dogs with there puppy shots, and even then only as single antigens. After that, no vaccines.[/quote]
    Then you deal with the consequences of $$ quarantine and/or a dead dog if he's bitten by a rabid raccoon.

    I vaccinate my horses every 3 yrs for rabies.
    And if he's exposed to a rabid raccoon in year 2, you deal with $$ quarantine or a dead horse.

    Gotcha

    You're right. I DO do as much as I can to understand the *facts*.

    and i would never vaccinate my dog yearly for rabies if it only needed it every 3 years.
    How is that "need" defined?

    That is poison being injected into your dog, why do it more often than is absolutely needed.
    Do your research
    Oh, I have

    Now, you should know that my cats only get a rabies vaccine. My dogs only get what's required of a boarding kennel as well as rabies. I only give rabies every 3 years because thankfully that's all that's required here.

    I DID lose 2 cats to cancers that are thought to be caused by over-vaccinating, and yes, when they were younger they were vaccinated regularly for all the recommended stuff.

    But statements and comments like yours are aimed at scare tactics based on what - people who draw conclusions that shouldn't be drawn? The rhino shot for horses *can* cause head shaking and other neurological issues, but guess what, the number of horses that happens to is SUCH a small number compared to those who get the vaccine that it's just not worth people never vaccinating for it and ending up with a LOT more horses contracting those diseases.

    So, please show me scientific, peer-reviewed papers on why these things are "poison"

    OhSoAppy - I watched a few of your videos on youtube - whatever happened with Angel? Did she make a full recovery?

    I find it scary that you will not know until you put the vaccines into the animal whether or not they will have a reaction. But, I guess that can be said about any medication as well.

    JB - Do you mind sharing what your vaccine protocol is for your horses? I understand that each area is different in what vaccines you should administer, but I am just curious how many vaccines you think are OK to give?

    Also - no one has still answered why we are supposed to vaccinate our animals so often when we are only vaccinated mostly as children. This is not a rude or snotty question by any means - I really am curious. Why don't vaccines build up true immunity?

    OhSoAppy, that last video brought tears to my eyes... will your puppy recover?

    Here is a video of a horse that was not vaccinated for botulism:
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzWoeczn2I8"]YouTube- Horse Botulism[/ame]
    (the horse is at about 2 minutes in)

    This made me cry as well...I had three horses die from botulism and I can tell you, what I saw was much worse than this video.
