How many times can horses actually mate?

A quick question regarding AI shipment. Is there a special shipping service that is used? Are there different ones for within the states and international shipment?

yes..there are special containers that it is shipped in to keep it cool.

In the wild, horses will mate many times in one day to insure fertilization. It would probably not be unusual to have them mate a dozen times.

Like others have said, it's a special container (forget the name) that is usually overnighted to you when your mare is in heat. The semen is either frozen or cooled. . .usually you have to pay a deposit for the price of the container which is returned to you once the breeder has received the container back from you.
