i had a rescue. he was a 2 yr old haflinger grade. i loved that little boy! i had him for 3 months, and he was so easy to work around, but you did have to be gently with him. he was a very willing young guy. but we had to put him down, they think he had botulism. it was very sad, and i only had him for 3 months, but at least those 3 months he had fun, and had lots of friends.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have 12 rescues-last year i had 20
they are the best- i do problem horse training- unbrokes and start horses under saddle- but i love the ones that are supposed to be aggressive- most if not all the time they are the smart ones.

Yes, I have a rescue pony! When she was rescued you could have played a tune on her ribs and pushed her over with one finger...I was just waiting for animal control to show up at my house she looked so bad.......but this wasn't an abuse case. There was an elderly man who bred ponies and he passed away and no one was there to feed or water them . He had a whole herd of ponies no one knew about, all the mans friends were passed on too. There was hay in the barn but the ponies couldn't get to it. There were three water troughs too, but not a drop of water in them by the time the ponies were discovered. None of the ponies had any food other than what they could scrounge, and no water unless it rained and made a puddle.....this mare had TWO foals on her side, one was almost a year old and STILL nursing, the other a just at weaning age. So, I took the mare and the older one, weaned the older baby and then the filly went to a good loving home. The younger baby also went to a loving home. This little pony has a heart of gold, I know the old man loved her, there is no doubt in my mind about that. She is starting to go blind now. She is a super dark bay, her head is greyed from age. She is in no way a pretty pony, but beautiful in heart. I just love her.....I give her treats and brush her alot. My son has outgrown her, but I don't care she'll be here until she dies. She still belongs to the program, but she also belongs to my heart!! |
