I havn't yet but there is one filly we might, cuz they don't want to deal with her injury. and the stupid lady is a vet, so we said if they were going to put her down we'll take her from them and nurse her back to health

i rescued Cory from slaughter when she was six months old. She is now on permenant loan to a pony club kid who is doing brilliantly with her. I wouldnt change having had her for the world.

Yup! My horse Buddy was a PMU who was a 8 month old on a glue truck when he was rescued, we bought him 2 days later and now he is just the SWEETEST thing in the world.

WEll, we didnt rescue the horse, but my trainer did get him from an auction, and he was soooo skinny. Then we bought him from her

my colt had 4 owners before his 1st birthday and was "gentled" by having a rope tied around his back foot and his neck so that his foot was stuck up in the air and if he tried to run he would fall down. after that, he was abused with smacks with all sorts of things and left in a field without ever being wormed or vaccinated to "grow up". luckily, that field was right around the corner from me and he's been my boy for two years April 23. (that's his b-day too, i walked him home in the pouring rain on his first birthday... and three days later as a late gift he was gelded. lol.)

My trainers favorite horses are rescues and they are wonderful. Two in particular a quarter horse mare and a tb mare are both happy and healthy and give kids riding lessons. The tb is now a third level dressage horse and is progressing wonderfully. They both came from the same barn and were starved and beaten, but they are very forgiving and as smart as they come.
