my sentiments as well, Dotgotcom : )

6 horses, all well behaved (or else) trims, two seen every three weeks for maintenance (specific issues), the rest every 6 weeks. and he's here for a whole hour and a half. paid in full and rescheduled before he leaves. i wouldn't mind his paycheque, either, lol! but best i just write it off as child support : )

Our new gal (I LOVE HER by the way, she is fantastic with them) took four hours, again to do five trims and one set of shoes... and that was with a bunch of really level-headed horses! Even Allure was pretty darn good. I couldn't do her job at all- she kept talking about how the little things ours were doing that annoy me (and that I apologized for) were "nothing" and then telling me stories about other people's nutty horses... I wondered how long she could potentially wind up at a barn before the herd is done!

I don't care what she says... next time... we are trimming in the BARN! With fans!
30-45 min to throw shoes on....10-15 to trim. all depending on the horse of course.

Mine takes what ever amount of time needed to do a proper job theres no set amount really.

I was married to a farrier for 12 years and always laughed at the people who went on about how great a job farriers had and all the money they made. No workmens comp for when their injured on the job, no unemployment for when its -20 and no one wants farrier work done, no paid vacation, no medical benifits, no sick days.

Funny how all those people who felt farriers made big money never became farriers.

It depends.........Now if he just did the job, and we didn't chat probably alot faster hehe.

It all depends on what I'm having done. He's coming out tonight to trim Freedom and reset Polly, I'm figuring on about an hour and a half. I've had quick farriers, and thorough ones......but I haven't had quick and thorough, so I'll stick with the latter!

I think it is 10-15 for trims from a pro.. usually 10 for Fritz and 15 for the flare king, sasquach aka Scout.
For me.. I usually spend about 20 minutes on Fritz who would let you twist his leg up to his ears and still stand like he could fall asleep and 30-45 on Scout because he takes a lot more thinking and planning of my attack if I let him go 6 weeks, then I take so long he gets impatient making things worse taking his foot on the stand, playing with anything within reach and giving me back rubs with his lips.

HAHA YEAH, I hear ya!!! I don't mind paying for it though as long as my horses are sound and performing well

I had a guy almost cripple my 4yo ... I've def had my run ins with quite a few farriers. FINALLY, I found a good one...a VERY good one! He completely brought my gelding back.

Bret takes 40-45 minutes to trim each of mine. He's very laid back, the horses really like him.

He spent 1.5 hours with Stern when she was having her hoof problems. She didn't want anything done with her feet, but he got her trimmed and put on the blue board pads. Charged me $20....I paid him a lot more.
