The babies stand good, and their hooves are itty bitty, my guy can usually trim them each in 10 minutes. He doesn't file the edges, though. He says it's cosmetic, and the edges will naturally roll where they are supposed to. Ebony takes longer because she leeeeeeeaaaaaans and trimming her hoofs is like chiseling granite.

Regal is shod all around, and he always gets done by the father of the guy I have trim the broodmares and babies; he takes quite a while. I really like him.

Eep! That has to be one of the most *insert word here* things I've ever heard. I'm trying to be nice

Yes, leaving the hoof like that will cause it to 'roll' (iow chip, break, chunk, split, etc...) on its own. But that's the point of the roll, to keep that from happening.

Why pay him to trim at all? Just let them do a 'natural' trim. Which is basicaly what he's saying here.

My farrier takes about 5-7 hours to shoe 8-10 horses (including a lunch break). He is great though. Measure each and every hoof, lets you know his concerns, etc... He gets a tip also.

That's how my mare developed seedy toe!, not having her feet properly trimmed for barefoot....

My new barefoot trimmer takes her time...she will let Xiphias rest her back feet, as she is a bit stiff behind...she got that seedy toe cleared up in less than a year, and my horse's feet have never looked better...I would say she might take 40 min. on Xiphias, and 30 on Mikey, my mini...he is a brat, and wiggles all around...he is good for me, but knows her, and just acts like a brat...we just laugh...she don't mind, she's in no hurry

He is coming this week I believe. It generally takes Jason about five-ten minutes [guesstimate] to bevel/trim each horse. It depends on how much needs to be done and if the horse acts up or not, too.

For three horses...last time it took about five hours.

However, it was the first visit for two of them for this particular farrier and he was very thorough about examining them and starting a plan to fix their feet.

It takes my farrier like an hour to trim my horse, but you have to understand that includes my million questions By the end of this year i'll be able to trim my own horse! (just kidding) But he is great. He explains everything to me, and he fixed my horse up when my last farrier almost had her ruined. They say no feet, no horse. And if it wasnt for my farrier i would have no horse. haha

I have two horses.
One only gets trimed and the other gets shoed in the front.

It usually takes my farrier about 2 hours for both. But he also trys to be a perfectionist (: which isnt a bad thing!

Let's see with Trouble's trim it took her about...probably 20 minutes. Pearl is another story...front ones were done pretty quick...but the back...eh, in all about an hour and 45 minutes...lol She's not as pretty inside as she is outside sometimes...
