I have seen some people who had an unhandled herd of horses. They were trying to catch them and lassoed a foal (about 5 months old) and it reared and flipped over and hit it's head hard on soft ground. A big hunk of blood came out of it's ear and when the horse got up it would hold it's head sideways. For the rest of the time they had it, it held it's head sideways. They sold it at a horse sale, so I don't know what happened to it. that was a terrible sight though.

He has flipped himself over several times.
I managed to grap him before he could hit the ground once, but the other times he hit the ground HARD.
Boy, it scared me!

Then obviously you flipping him over won't work either. Try some forward movement instead.

My TB reared ONCE - my immediate reaction was a swift wack on the hind with my long dressage crop. And you do have to react right away. I think he got the picture. I used to ride a mare, who loved to rear when she was asked to work. The only way I could get her out of sequential rearing is by pulling one rain behind my knee. That's only for those "seasoned" rearers...lol. She eventually got the picture.

I would not flip him. I watched a yealing flip over and die right there. Blood poored out of her ears and mouth. It happened very quickly and all she did was flip over.

I dont recoment flipping ether. I mean great if u do it and it works, but Prissy flipped herself as a filly and needed tons and tons of ciropracting, meds and other needs. In a result of this it stunted her growth(as result to meds). She is lucky to be alive!! She scared the u know what out of us!!! So thats why I dont encorage.

As for Yoki, i would shank him or make him back up and all. I agree with alot of you all on here

Why would you want a rearing horse to back up? Rearing is a refusal to go forward, so by all means lets make him go backward fast *sarcasm*.

Do the opposite of what the horse wants to do. Forward, forward, forward!!!!

I don't personally know anything about handling babies. But my good friends have had tons of experience with it and I watched them flip a baby once. It reared, and they pulled it over.

It wasn't injured, but it still tried to rear. Just my little experience with it.

*bangs head* *bangs head* bangs head * bangs head*
There, I think that hurt a lot less than trying to make anyone think for themselves logically.

Please! Think! Look below, it just makes sense.
