How do you breed a Stud-Mare?

Lol, the title gets you, doesn't it?

I was driving past the neighbors when I saw one of their horses loose on the highway! To make matters worse, the clueless caretakers (they care for the landlord's horses, they rent his farm) were running around, waving their arms, and generally scaring the poor horse anywhere but home. I dashed over to the barn where I keep my horses (just next door), grabbed a bucket of grain, and within minutes, the greedy little guy came trotting up the drive, highly incensed that the other horses were being fed! (tip number 1: runaways have no regard for treat enticements, but they DO care if other horsies are getting something they aren't!)

Here's the best part: I asked my neighbor what the gender was of the run-away as I wasn't close enough at the moment to tell. He looked me straight in the eye and sagely replied, "A stud-mare...yep, definitely a stud-mare). Sadly, he was completely serious. FYI, he was NOT trying to convey through improper terminology that the mare was used for breeding, was stud-like, etc....He sincerely did not know what gender belonged to "mare" "gelding", etc, So he just strung something together that sounded good to him. This is the same guy who thinks he can break all 5 of these unbroken, never been ridden horses (some as old as 20ish) even though he has never, ever been on a horse!

So, how does one breed a stud-mare? I am very curious.....=)

I think he/she matched the level of intelligence displayed by the "horse savvy" gentleman with a rare and refined brilliance, a stroke of genius in which the answer was so ridiculous, it actually made sense, in context.

FYI, this is supposed to be a compliment, I think you are brilliant!

Would you believe I still don't know? I'm guessing a mare/filly as the little airhead is always making mushy cow-eyes across the fence at my 24 year old gelding. Must be the stud-mare in her...

These horses are fairly skittish. Maybe I should use Mr. Stud-muffin (AkA Zam, AKA Misinformed Gelding) as girl-bait and see if I can get close enough to peek...
