Coldest I've ridden was -20. Don't know if I'd do that again or not.

I live in Alaska and we ride depending on the situations nothing more than a walk to -15 bareback in halter or a hack. I will say when a buddies cows got loose we have had to ride at -35...dont they know they should be at home and not off taking a tour at that temp lol. As far as the cold burning the lungs it is true just as it is for humans. If it hurts for your to breath when your doing chores it can hurt your horse. The coldest we have seen this year was -64 here at my place. Heck I dont like breathin that cold air in either!

Where I live it gets pretty cold - nothing like negative numbers, but cold enough for me. I won't ride if it is super cold, it's just not worth it. I don't want to be miserable throughout the whole ride because I am frozen. But that's just me.

I live in B.C so I know where your coming from xD We've been having minus 30 and below...I wish the snow would go away!

I normally don't ride in anything colder then -20 and even in that kind of weather, I don't do anything other then walk/trot. Just make sure you take the extra time to warm up and cool down your horse

Have fun!

Its interesting to see what other people do for riding their horses in cold weather! I wish the snow and cold would go too though! I would be perfectly happy with -10 for the whole winter!! Oh, well, we take what we get.

I guess its as long as you can bundle up, and your not working them into the ground, and for a long time, I dont see it being a problem. I ride in anything! As long as I can bundle my self up them I ride!
