ok
so how easy do you think it is to make HUGE mistakes?
very easy right

firstly. ill tell you that i have been around animals and baby animals (newborn) for around eight years. (sheep, horses, goats, guinea pigs)
for at least four of these years it was pretty much my 'job' to check if they were a boy or girl.
no one ever told me that the boy ones can still be 'tucked up' in the privy area.

so when my little GIRL calypso was a week old. i had an eye opener when he 'dropped his bits'

my beautiful little FILLY is now a strong and handsome COLT

i couldnt believe my mistake
and niether can any of my friends
and no one will let me forget it.
he is keeping the name. i think it suits a boy better anyway.
the only problem is that when i have children i was going to name a daughter calypso.
she may be a wee bit offended.

oh well.
i have learnt my lesson and next time it will be the finger test!!!!

What is the finger test? I always pick up the tail and look under to see how many holes... One is male and two is female. I learned this the hard way too and took someone else's word for it. Imagine the trouble I had to trying to get it straight with the registration people. I think we have all made this mistake at least once... hence my learning the under tail test.

Don't feel bad! I did the same thing except I discovered my mistake the next morning when the vet was out... I had hold of the tail and looked under and said to my vet "She's deformed! She's only got one hole" and my vet (bless her heart) said to me "Tonya... that would be a colt!"

Someone else did it on the forum this year too...

Lift tail and look for coin slot. Your not the only one it has ever happened to.
