The first question is, has she been exposed to a stallion?

After that, the only way to know for SURE is to have a vet test her.

Some mares don't give many signs...for MOST you don't notice any physical changes until very late in a pregnancy. By then, it is much too late to give her the proper feed to grow a baby as well as the correct shots and vet care.

If you think you have a pregnant mare, have a vet out.

Like her belly is growing?

She may need to be wormed.

If you think she may be, please have a vet out. It takes a lot out of a mare to grow a baby. I just had to learn all about it as I bought a pregnant mare last year. The sooner you know, the more you can do for her.

Please let us know what the vet says, I would love to give you some feed and care tips.

Is there a way to contact her previous owner to see if she may have been bred?

These mares are all going to foal later this spring...

ETA: The above mare was being unloaded at the barn and trimmed before being placed with the other mares in dry lot to be fescue free until foaling.

This mare below is open this spring... but been a broodmare for several years... This was taken about a month ago...
