How can you tell if a mare is pregnet?

Awww... this thread sends my heart to pitter-patter.

Ebony's getting palpated on Thursday, she hasn't been checked since she confirmed in at day 17 and we all know how iffy the first weeks are. Oh please, please, please let there be a curly baby on the way.

I'm really excited/scared/nervous to get her checked.

does anyone have any pictures from front view and back view? then i can kind of compare her to them. when they are pregnet do there bellies grow out and down? like for example if you look at them straight on from behind will you see there belly on each of the sides? thanks for all of your help everyone.

this is the only pic i got yesterday because my camera batteries were dead. it is really hard to tell in this pic though...

just so you know when you are looking at the pic that big bulg(sp) on the side is her belly not her but, it is the same on the other side

Impossible to tell.

Even a vet can't tell by looking.

I took a mare to the vet last spring to be checked, we'd bred her, confirmed in foal at 60 days, vet said from the looks of her (she was rounder than yours) we didn't need to check. I had him palpate anyway... mare was not pregnant.

the vet will be coming out shortly for this years shots, coggins, ect... i will have the vet take a look at her and see what happens. i will give everyone an update of what happens.

LOL! She's not even a little overweight either. I can still see ribs. She just has a "well sprung" ribcage. :-)
