Horses @ Risk to Ship to Slaughter! Needing Homes Asap!

Hello All,

There are a few horses stuck on a feedlot in Yakima, WA, that have one last chance to find a home before being shipped to slaughter. They have been listed on Columbia Basin Equine Rescue's website (CBER). CBER does NOT take in horses, they simply try to place horses on the lot. They are fortunate enough to have developed a business relationship with the feedlot owner and kill buyers. The kill buyers attend the auction and purchase horses which are then to be sent to slaughter. However, after the kill buyer purchases the horses, he will often contact CBER and tell them about a few horses that seem decent enough to maybe have a second chance. The kill buyer tells CBER the price for the horse, and then CBER has awhile, sometimes a few days to a week, to find this horse an adopter. If an adopter is not found in time, the horses are then shipped to slaughter. More info @ www.columbiabasinequinerescue.org

Right now, we need help!! There are two horses at risk to ship anytime. They need someone to adopt them now!!

1. BELLE:

20 yrs. QH Mare, 15'1
Adoption fee: $460.00

Belle has been used for 4H, she is very well trained for barrels and poles. She has plenty of go left in her!! She is a sweetie and so eager to please!! She was purchased by the kill buyer and now after so many years of dedication to her owners, she is at risk to ship to slaughter! Please if you know of anyone or even yourself who can take Belle in, please let me know asap!!

2. CHANCE

16 yrs, QH gelding, 15 hh.
Adoption fee: 560.00

CHANCE has been very lucky. He was loaded into the killtruck & then a group of wild horses were loaded behind him..they knocked him down in the trailer. The feedlot owner pulled him out & brought him to the lot. He was sound before loaded onto the truck, he is very broke & a nice gelding. He did have a slight limp after being unloaded but he no longer has a limp anymore. He is an awesome and sweet boy and needs a home asap!!

Please let me know if you or anyone you know can help!!!
email directly, kirstenjanz@hotmail.com
Thanks so much for your time!!

I know!

If I remember correctly, wasn't this "rescue" exposed as a scam in an earlier thread ??

I'm sorry, but I have to agree on those prices right now! Those are outrageous! They wouldn't even get that much at price per pound would they??? Somebody is trying to make a huge profit here!!! Good, broke horses are going for less than half those amounts at the auctions right now.

Does anyone know what the plants in Canada are paying per pound right now?

This rescue is a fraud? Becase I've seen some adds on here: http://results.bayequest.info/b001/s...e=2&adscatid=1
and the horses are priced about the same. Also they have people adopting them.

By taking ANY horse home, you save one more from the house.

For every horse saved from slaughter, another takes its place from the local sales.

So either way, by providing a space in your home for a horse, you save a life. Doesn't matter if you pulled them from the feedlots, auction barns, or someone's back yard.
