I absolutely adore the paint with the half marked face... Apparently she HAS been taken though. On another forum many members have taken some of these guys... Thank goodness for that!

I heard about this on the weekend while I was at work.

Such a shame, hopefully some of them can be saved.

Okay...I will never understand this...lots of slaughter bound horses are sold for like under a hundred bucks a head, and yet to rescue them from the meat grinder, you have to pay 3 to even 9 X's as much...to SAVE them. Doesn't anyone else find this a bit ridiculous? The meat buyer has far less expenses than the rescuer/rehaber does per horse...from medical bills, feed, hoof care, transportation, trainers/training, boarding, etc. Meat buyer just have to keep the horses alive from the time of sale to the time of slaughter...a little hay, a little water, trailering costs, and that's pretty much it! Talk about turning a profit...

Still...I hope someone has extra cash to help these poor critters out..."if I had a million dollars" I was thinking to myself when I saw them, I would buy up the herd and some land out in the flat country and let them be horses...they are a beautiful band!

I completely agree! it makes it SO HARD to rescue horses. in all fairness, you should be able to get them for like 50$ a head, or better yet, free.
