I'm sorry but that still doesn't cut it for me. You don't join forum and ask for money the first day you join, not to mention make it your first post. Just isn't right. It's like dating someone, and when you meet their parents you try to talk them into giving you money. They don't know you, they wouldn't feel comfortable giving you money. Just like we're not comfortable giving money to this person. Now if the OP wants to become apart of this community and show that she's not just after money, then maybe our opinions will change. But since my last post, the OP still has not posted anywhere but in this thread.

And I know this looks like a great website, and might be totally legit. But I don't trust a person throwing a story in my face, with a website, begging for money when I don't know them.Don't rightly appreciate it either. People that aren't legit can go to great lengths to make it appear that they are. They get what they want, and then they disappear. Thanks but no thanks. My money is staying in my account. Like I said before, if this was someone we knew and trusted from the forum I would say what's the Paypal email, and how much would help you out? I'm not, nor cannot, justify sending money to this person. Every fiber of my being is saying no. But like I said, they might be legit, but on the other hand, are you willing to put the HGS Community on the line on a hunch? Or would you rather wait and see if you get to see who this person actually is. I bet you the OP's account is going to go dormant, and this is the only thing we'll ever see or hear of her.

But hey that's me.

This is a direct quote from the website.

Western and Dressage are the same.
Dressage is french for training.
And there are certain dressage exersizes that help a western horse.
A magazine I used to subscribe to used to used to do articles on it.

I am sorry if she has caused any doubts or made peolple out there think that this could be a scam, but i can assure you this is not so. Please feel free to check out our website for more info about us, but this is still under construction at the moment & more info will be added very shortly, We also have the help & support of the only horse vet on the island. whose details will be added to our website soon. Thank you all for your responses so far & i would just like to let you know that we do as much as we can to raise monies for these horses, like local fund raisers. Also both my wife & daughter teach riding & run a pony club to help educate people in the correct way to care for horses. but this is a small island & you can only do so much.
Hello Steve and Amber. WELCOME to the forums. You will find us mostly a friendly bunch.

It may help if you make an introductory post in the introductions part.

You will also find this place a great source of help, maybe not so much of the monetry way, but in advice and support.

Hope you stick around and good luck with the rescuing of the horses.

Your heart does not have to reach into your pocket, if you do not feel that this is legit. But I would hope our horse loving hearts, could reach out to a child who seems to be trying to do the right thing.

Welcome Amber and Steve, and good luck to you both!

Paula

Well I am in no way confirming anything but the conditions for horses in Spain can be somewhat horrible. I have first hand account of that. You will see horses in a 10x10 pen with nasty water, no hay and in pretty ugly shape. So that part I agree, I lived in Spain for 3 years so yes I know. Secondly, I had received a video from a dog breeder when I was looking to buy a presa canario, a dog from the canary island, and it showed a history of the dog with it and lots of pics of the islands on it. The areas there because of the build up of the islands for tourism for a horse would be very limited. Just thought I would let you guys know some of what is being sad about conditions of horses is true, I am not saying reach in your pocket, that is up to each person to decide.
Also true Doma Vaquero (sp) is hard to explain and I can see why she says western is like dressage. If this is what she is riding is done in a saddle that is much in build to a western saddle and neck reined but includes dressage movements. Do you guys remember in the collection thread the horse used in the bull fighting, that is the ultimate form of doma vaquero. I probably am not explaining it very well but hopefully that will help.
**Once again only offering info only**

This is to the OP. Doing rescues is heartbreaking and at the same time heartwarning. Follow your heart, and what it tells you. If you do this, you will succeed in your quest. There is no better feeling in the world than to rescue an animal in need and watch it become healthy again. They will be your lifelong friend.

Good luck and much success to you!!!!!
