Oh wow thats just sick! Those poor poor horses! I cant believe people would do such a thing! And to peoples pets too! That makes me want to bring Cherry and Ransom up from the pasture and put them in the yard and Im thousands of miles away from Florida! Lets just hope that these stories dont give other low-lives the idea that they can get away with it and it starts happening all over!
I pray they catch these criminals.

"The S.P.C.A has issued a warning that the meat, which is coming from pet horses, is toxic."
Thats from the story, at least they are getting bit in the a** for what they are doing.

I cant find where I saw it but there is a video on that news site somewhere about a woman who caught somebody walking down the driveway with her horse. She was lucky! I know if I was to find somebody doing that they would be in big trouble. My husband is a big man. They would regret picking my horse. The story about the colt found in his stall almost made me cry. I can't imagine how hard that must have been.

Yep, because most medications and wormers have withdrawal times before the meat is "safe"..so these people are eating alot of "toxic" stuff..must be pretty desperate, but heck, $40 a pound..I am utterly dumbfounded at that price. Very sad story, but so common within our world today..people have no respect for other's property or animals..it makes me ill.

I know some people won't agree with me, and that's ok. I believe the closing of the slaughter houses has as much to do with what's going on as anything. The thousands of forgieners that are moving here is part of it. A market for the meat is there. There will always be someone there to fill a void. It's no different than drugs, if someone wants something, somebody else will be willing to take the risk for the right price. I wonder if hanging horse thieves is still legal? I have guns in my house and wouldn't hesitate. They must be pretty bold to take them right from a barn. Having yappy dogs could be a plus. Will people start turning up at hospitals from eating meat that has the type of medicines and vacines that horses are normally given. Scares the stuff out of me.

Same here, if someone endangered my animals they would be endangering themselves. I think everyone should have a big dog, we have a huge weimeraner and an aussie pup (who is going to get big, his mom and dad are gaurd dogs.) I dont feel safe without dogs. I'll never live without them.

About the horse slaughter, I would much rather them start back up with the slaughter houses than for people's pets to be taken and brutally killed. I am pro slaughter anyway though. I dont want to get too far into that discussion so I'm going to end it there.

I'm just glad my barn is within 200 ft. of my house. My little terriors bark if the crickets chirp to loud and we'll be installing lights on the perimeter of the barn. We moved to the country to get away from all the stuff going on in the city. Now I feel like I have to barracade myself here too. STINKS!!

Boy were they idiots. They left the most tender cuts, the foal! Seriously I hope the anti-slaughter cry babies are proud of their win. I am not pointing the finger at anybody here.

I only wanted to make folks aware of what's going on. What's done is done for the slaughter bill. If that should be changed, write your congressmen. We each vote the way we see fit. I stated what I did because I feel that this is all related.

I agree. And it should be changed. I am a thorn in his (congressman) side at least once a month. It is related and it will get worse. Once the blackmarket gets rolling on this, rescues and other places where herds of horses are kept will be hit. Too many people thought with their heart and not their heads on this. I have an opinion on this and will state it every time it is brought up. I am only trying to keep it fresh on the minds of those that caused this situation, not stir up ****.
