Horse Trial Results!

Ok here we go... Sadly it rained a lot every night of the show so the cross ocuntry Sunday was cancelled! I had band stuff all day Friday and couldn't be there to trailer him to Las Colinas where the show was, so Erica was nice enough to go with my mom to trailer him there, walk him around the grounds, and get him all comfortable in his stall Friday evening. Sat morning Erica drove me and lisa up really early so we could bathe and braid him. I can't thank Erica and Lisa enough for all their help that weekend, couldn't have done it w/o them. Erica helped me walk the course before Peggy (my jump instructor) got there, Lisa walked Pal for me while I was walking the course. Erica sponged him down and realized he was dehydrated after my dressage round, so my mom ran to the on the ground tack shop to buy him an electolyte paste. They helped me tack him and change taxk between events. They were a God send! Thanks so much ya'll! Anyway... ok well I should have lunged him Sat morning instead of just walking arojnd (he was nearly ripping my arm out, so EXCITED!) Well we got into the the warm up ring for dressage, I have a 2:20 ride time and it was pretty hot. Pal was notttttt interested in listening to me! All he wanted to do was roll his head down and go 90 to nothing and not connect at all to the bit . He was so good Tuesday and Wed, but I guess this was all pretty new to him. First night away form home at his first big show. Anyway I was getting clos eot panic mode. My jumping instructor came over and kept telling us to go more forward (I was trying to get him to slow down by doing some lateral stuff and have more impulsion rather then quickness) I have only had 2 jump lessons with her so she doesn't really know him yet, and letting him go quick won't help at all. Anyway so he was all sweaty when we went in the ring (from heat and being so worked up) It was better then I expected but while I was so busy concentrating on him I went off course (you get 2 points taken off that indivicual movement) No biggie really. Well we finished that and he was really hot. Erica walked him out for me (I was also super hot) and thats when she realized he was a little dehydrated. Well I rode about an hour and a half later and he was much better by then. We warmed up nicely for the show jumping round and I was ready. I had watched a few course and noticed a lot of horses were refusing on the last fence. The course went really well! The flas after one of the jumps from the photographer sort of made him jump, and he thought about refusing the last one, but I kicked him and tapped him with the crop and he did it for me. Over all it was a very nice round, didn't have any chipping in or anything. We went away clear with no time penalties. There were 19 horses in my class and we were 11th after dressage and finished 7th after show jumping. I really wish we could have run XC and possibly moved up into the ribbons, but oh well. What stinks is the last few placed were all REALLY close, like 38.5, 38.7, 39.3 ect. I had a 40.0 and if I hadn't messed up the dressage course and not gotten 2 points off, I might have been in the ribbons. Oh well! I already have my next event planned in October with Erica so better luck next time! Since XC was cancelled Sunday you were allowed to come up and do some round in show jumping or dressage. I rode the BN round again in the show jumping and he was a little iffy at first. The made up a new course you could ride it so I also did that one, and he was much much better. Then I decided to go ride my dressage test, and he was 100% better! He was so much more relaxed, and he understood what I wanted. I think he's happy to be home now though Erica took some pictures of our schooling Sunday. My dad took pics on Sat but they haven't been developed. Here are some of the pictures Erica took....

That is the beginner novice show jumping course I rode
