And I would pay 1000 dollars to let my horses have a decent death ANYDAY, 1000 Dollars is little compared to this animals that had done so much for me
Maybe you haven't been in a position yet where $1000 to you might as well be one million. If you don't have it, you just simply don't have it. It cost us nearly $1000 the night Moose died, for the vet to come out, for someone to transport him to the university and for the university to try to save him, and ultimately for the cost to put him down and dispose of him. Most of that cost was the UGA part. I am very very thankful that we were able to do as much as we were, and that his death was painless (well, except for those agonizing hours of colic before he died anyway). But if our situation had been different, I don't know what we would have done. You just don't know till you get into a situation, what you will be driven to do.

If I was a person making minimum wage I'd get someone to shoot the horse myself and find a way that I could bury it...But I would never send one of my horses to slaughter. Personally, Even if that video is old I dought there has been a huge change in the treament of slaughter horses. What could they change...after..that is not a peaceful death at all..and My guess is that there would be no other way If you have a un domesticated frightened horse on your hands. You guys saw it..it take like three shots to kill the horse Some missed and got hit in the shoulder or other places. But yeah..I think it is definatly a cruel end..And IMO there is nothing humane about horse slaughter, And its not like there is one in every state..some horses have to travel very far INJURED crammed in trailors.
The dead bolt is much more reliable than a bullet. It often takes many shots to kill a horse.

How hypocritical. With the extreme over population of horses we have, those horses need as MANY homes and possible or else more go to slaughter. So by saying that these people shouldn't own horses, you are condeming more to slaughter. We need as many horse owners as possible.

I reckon. If we all went into buying a horse like that, would we ever own them?

People need to take in consideration that once they own a horse they need to plan on useing maybe about $10000 on them maybe more...with feeding, board, farrier, vet, and euthinasia....these are just the things to consider ahead of time/

Yes you consider them and take into a ccount that you are going to need alot of money, but you don't just say "I can't buy that horse. I don't have the money to put it down".

WTH?!! I'm sorry, but that is ridiculous!

If i had to put my horse down,i have got the money and if i didn't,i could get it. I know that not everyone is like me, but that is NO reason for them not to have a horse because "they can't afford the price of putting them down".

It take quite a few shots to kill a horse either way. Slaughter houses are just cruel, If people really cared about there aniamls they wouldent send them there...There are also other options as well...like by sending him to a horse rescue or retirement home.
