Oh people come on............

'I just wrote this and i thought i would share it......tell me what you think....."

OBVIOUSLY HARDLY ANYONE READ THE FIRST LINE, which is a classic mistake of "nit-pickers".

I dont know WHAT everyone's problem is.

Humans grossly exploit most things, horses included. But then there's ppls ridiculous definitions of humane and bla bla bla, making everything complicated. Opinions are opinions.

Personally, I commend you for caring about things like that and taking a stand to try and change it.

Don't listen to people who think that it is THEIR JOB to prove everyone wrong all the time. I sure don't respect people like that, and I don't know anyone who does. They are frank, BUT ROYALLY TACTLESS, and are never going to change anyone's mind, or help anyone like that.

Make sure you research what you write, or provide some bit of evidence. Otherwise, I think it's very passionate.

But what if they are truely wrong? And they are helping by correcting you. It is very distasteful, and wrong, IMO to go around saying false information.

What I have to say to this is that our focus should not be on ENDING HORSE SLAUGHTER, but INFORMING the nation about BREEDING WITHOUT A CAUSE TO AVERAGE HORSES, which causes more and more POINTLESS horses. Instead of making posts such as this, we should make tell people, and get the word around, that you have to be RESPONSIBLE when you breed. And encourage people to take in a mustang, or go to an auction instead of looking at all the fancy 748290384902384908908490 dollar horses, and taking on a challenge.

On a gentle note...It is the way someone is corrected that makes the difference. If you stomp them into the dirt, they are going to be afraid to try and make a difference or speak up, especially someone that young. I think she meant well by not wanting to see animals slaughtered, and was looking for constructive criticism. Places like this are supposed to be about supporting one another, so why do we need to spit fire when someone asks for our help? She did not explain the points she made thoroughly enough in my opinion, so I suggested it, instead of quoting her and ripping her to pieces.

Also, it doesnt matter if you think someone is wrong or not, it's their personal experience, or level of exposure that makes them feel a certain way about it. Facts can be distorted by both sides, evidence can be twisted to fit the opinion. I know that you believe that she is wrong, but it all depends what evidence YOU have personally, and who has presented it to YOU, hers may be different. Just like the saying : A JURY IS NOT A GROUP OF PEOPLE DECIDING WHICH SIDE IS RIGHT, IT IS A GROUP DECIDING WHICH SIDE HAS THE BETTER LAWYER. I dont know who originally said that, but it's a good one.

Personally, I think that all life should be respected and "managed" with care, simply because it is alive. Humans are vastly overpopulating as well, and living older....maybe some will agree with eventually disposing of the "extras", although I'm sure people would balk at the idea of even humane euthanesia for humans, let alone slaughter. I dont think there is such a thing as "pointless" horses, or pointless life period, just because someone in particular has no use for it. That concerns me greatly. They ran free until WE bred uncontrollably and got in THEIR way. Now we are mad because they are breathing our air or soemthing? Uh uh. That's just my opinion.

Sorry for beating it to death.....but noone is forced to read it.

Geezzzzzzz, I some how agree with alot of this! Alot of "stomping them in the dirt" goes on in here. And it doesn't seem to be just about slaughter either. Read back on some of the other threads! You'll get the picture.
Oh yeah, by the way, welcome to the forum!!!

I really have to chime in here; can't hold it in. I know that many people feel that "mediocre" horse breeding is the cause of horse slaughter; explain, then, the countless numbers of blue-blooded Thoroughbreds that go down that road? So, it's OK for people to take part in that industry, which for years churned out well-bred but disposable horses that ended up ultimately on someone's dinner plate, but it isn't OK to breed your grade Paint and sell to people whose motto is "you can't ride papers...?"
My whole beef w/ slaughter is, the horrible state these horses are allowed to sink into Before being auctioned off. Sorta like, Mr Jones lets his mares starve and their feet founder and their ribs show, and gets off scot-free by unloading them to the killers... no responsibility whatsoever for the abuser. If you anti slaughter people want smoeone to go after, go for those neglectors who never trim feet, never feed the right amount, and always have half-starved stock to sell; they're not always the "poor" farmer down the road with the grade mares.

Awww......I agree this should stop. Its terrible. And even if there was horse slaughter dont shoot the poor things. Y dont they just give them a needle. or would that effect the needles? But still they shouold find a better way! This is cruelty and someone has to stop it! I hate animal slaughter and abusers beacuse the animals never have any say on wut they wanna or dnt wanna do. I dont understand how someone could even have the guts or heart to flippin kill an animal. I could never! Your letter was great! But i am not sure if it will convince them But maybe you never know. Imagine tho. you were like shot and you lived but was in pain and were just like the horses and you saw all of your animals/creature..w/e infront of you being slaughtered and killed one by one! its HORRIBLE! Someone is out there that can make a difference and i hope will someday! I really hope this stops and the slaughter houses will be CLOSED! And you are correct, horses were/are not here to be eaten they are to be ridin. Its not like it was placed on the earth to be eatin like a cow, chicken or pig was. It's crazy!
