No they are NOT trying to ban it in all countries. Good greif do some research. They sure aren't here in Canada. The United States is the only country I have heard of trying to ban horse slaughter.

Blistering Winds Why were you so harsh on PreppyxCowgirl? She is 14yrs old. I think for that age that was a very well put together paper.

Also, on the line, there are "electric prods" for the hanging carcassas to stimulate the body to finish releasing all the blood out of the muscles. Which causes the "TWITCHING" seen in many of the videos. MANY videos on horses are much older than the current legislation laws that have changed the processes.

If there are somethings you disagree with, or see that there may be some wrong information; informing, teaching in a mature and pleasant way would be more productive and less argumentive.

I don't need to watch a video to know that slaughter is unpleasant - but where are all these animals going to go if not to slaughter houses? Look at the numbers you people are posting here - there are not enough homes, rescues or dollars to save them. Why is it cruel to slaughter a horse and not a cow - veal for instance or little lambs? Where is the arguement for them? Life IS cruel - not just for horses, but for all creatures - including humans. Is it not cruel to leave someone dying alone in pain in a hospital bed? Bet if you posed the question to a human in that situation they would pray for a quicker end. I don't like slaughter either - the though of someone doing that to MY horse is devastating to me - but I would rather that than left to starve in an empty field... |

There have been some great ideas thrown around here. Also with my work of getting preg mares and/or foals out of the kill pen, I have talked to alot of people out in the field. They do have thoughts on solutions and are working very hard at it. So, there are people trying to find solutions I think it would be very benificial for people to start seeing the color GREY more, and not black or white.

Well, if you are mature enough to write on the subject, you should be mature enough to take the critisizm. And critisizing other animals to "protect" another is not the best way around it.

This is so tiresome, there have been so many threads on this, even if it stops here, it will go on in other countries, only there will be more theft,of your beloved horse,to end up there. More horses will starve to death, to euthanize,is not always the right anwer, as most places you can't bury them, the zoos want live horses, they don't want the dead ones, dead animal removal, has gone up,plus the fact sometimes the horse has to lay, right next to a road, untill they pick it up,sometimes it can be days,or even a week, hope you don't mind watching your favorite horse deconpose, right in front of you. You have your horse dying in front of you,but there is no where for you to put him. Just like booze, or any unlawful drug, you shut down all slaughter, they will get those horses, even if they have to steal them out of the pastures. Gee, I would rather them go to slaughter, as have my horse suffer, starve,or be stolen, knowing there wasn't anything wrong with him. Shutting them down isn't the anwer, but regulating, sound and safe horses, don't end up there. That will take vets, being on the prmises, to inspect them, and be pulled from slaughter. The ones that are going to die, unsafe, or crippled, and in pain, I see no problem, them going, they will be put out of thier misery, and thier death isn't for nothing. If people would put as much energy,in coming up with a anwer, on placing unwanted horses, as trying to shut slaughter down, then you would win some of the fight to save the horses that need to be saved.
