This might sound abit weird but i personally dont use a 'horse shampoo' for my boy, i use wool wash. You should find it in your laundry isle at your local supermarket and i know for my boy so long as i wash it out completely it doesnt affect him in anyway e.g. rash, lumps etc.

Personally I like Vetrolin, it is the best for getting the dirt out--and I have a horse that like to be dirty . A good conditioner will leave them nice and silky after bathing too.

I am currently using Gold Nugget on Fancy...but i also like wonder blue and quik color...if anything, wash the horse and then condition their coat with mane and tail or something of the like

I like Xtreme Revitalizing shampoo. It really makes their coat soft and also they have the best bottle design (weird I know) the lid has a special no spill top on it so if you accidently knock it over when your bathing your horse you do not loose all the shampoo on the ground.

I'm cheap...I don't buy horse shampoo anymore since I found that Suave (for 98 cents/bottle) works just as well at getting my guy clean, and he LOVES to be dirty.

I also find that the Suave gets him just as shiny as any of the horse shampoos I have ever used. I do use Infusium 23 on his mane/tail though, as I want them silky soft and like the extra growth it gets me.

To make it soft I would use baby shampoo. What I find is the human stuff works well also just a tip for shows if your horse has a green spot oxy clean works. the horse stuff dosn't work all that well
