Check out Penny Saver newspapers (or other similar free, local papers that you get once a week.) Most of the auctions around ehre are always listed in those. Try word of mouth, too! Ask around with local dealers, who should be happy to tell you when their next auction is. Since it's almost fall, prices should be down (compared to, say, buying in spring when everyone wants a summer horse.)

Well, I live in Lynchburg Virginia, and we go to watch the Lexington shows that our neighbors show in a lot. SO Lexington's no prob. Anything within a few hours is fine. I don't think I'm looking to buy a horse, seeing as I have a healthy ridable horse that I love right now. BUT, we are getting a barn before Xmas, so I want to ask my Dad if I can get a poor little ole' horse in bad shape for Xmas! LOL. Thanks Guys!

Lynchburg.....I lived there for four years!

Do you get the virginia horse journal? I know they have some auctions listed. Also, you could look at the VA/NC/MD horse trader....I used to purchase one at Sheeze (sp?) in Madision Heights....

And, here's the link to VA's horse center in Lexingtion: http://www.horsecenter.org/view.asp?id=home
I know there is a sale in Nov...I think it's the 4th and 5th.

Okay a little late, but watch the classifieds on roanoke.com for Spring Lake Stock Yard & Roanoke Hollins Stock Yard. They both have horse sales every so often.

I have been to only one of the Lexington sales, and from that one time I have to say that is a very NICE sale! In fact the man I bought my horse from took several of His paints and my gelding was meant to go before I came along and bought Him I believe the next sale in Lexington will be sometime in Jan 2006. And I'll probably be up there helping with which ever horses He sells this time. Hope that helps a little.

Sincerely,
Angela
