Horse research paper ideas

Does anyone have an idea for a horse based research paper?

I have to write a research paper for school this year and I want to research something "cool" that has to do with horses. You know, something entresting.

Genes(sp?), different colors.......

One idea that came to mind - is the Extreme Mustang Makeover. This was first year for the Mustang Heritage Foundation competition (MUSTANG HERITAGE FOUNDATION EVENTS) in which 100 trainers from all over the US were chosen to work with 100 mustangs for 100 days at the end of which they competed in an in-hand and undersaddle competition. The trainer who won would get $25,000. The Mustangs in the competition were auctioned off the next day.

Alot there to fill any papers - mustang origins, adoptions, evolution of the competiton, how they chose the trainers, who they choose, the different styles/methods of training, rule of the competition, etc.

The competition was held last weekend - I'm not sure of the official results although a few people have posted their experiences from going and watching the competition.

Just one thought anyway ....

I had to do a research paper as a graduation requirement. I chose classical dressage and the history of equitation-it was very educational and fun to research. The airs above ground was very fun to learn about.

I did Chronic Progressive Lymphedema in draft horses. I had to research it AND propose an idea for further research (this was for AP Biology, it was my term paper). I know poor Dr. C, the teacher, did a double take when she saw the title of that one.

Ive seen a pretty good paper about the history of the sidesaddle, mabey how your favorite breed came about, and a dangerous one to say around here but, slaughter and what to do with it.

Is it a researched position paper or just general research on a topic? If you have to pick a side...a researched position paper...you could do horse slaughter...if it's just general research, you could do something on line breeding for performance or color.

Just a couple of ideas

I would love to delve further into Therapeutic Riding. That could be fun if you have any interests in teaching or psychology as well.

How specific is this supposed to be? A broad topic or very specific (Equine Genetics or Chronic Progressive Lymphedema in Draft Horses). Jumping Bean- I used yours as an example because it sounded like a fun paper!

I REALLY like the sound of the mustang makeover!! That sounds like it could be a fun paper!!
Jgrinols, I would perfere a more specific topic but the paper has to be like 8-9 pages long or something. *groans*
Anyone else?
